MPSC is now a member of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB). GRSB’s mission is to advance, support, and communicate continuous improvement in sustainability of the global beef value chain through leadership, science, and multi-stakeholder engagement and collaboration. Its members include organizations, roundtables and individuals from over 24 countries. Top leadership from member organizations actively engage with stakeholders from across the industry to identify universal challenges and practical solutions for sustainable beef.
MPSC’s path to joining GRSB began with a study documenting the impact of increasing lamb yield—otherwise known as improving efficiency, along with substantial chilling benefits—and how it represented a major step forward for processors seeking to improve their sustainability efforts.
Next, MPSC was encouraged by a major leadership entity in Australia to take a look at how their Rinse & Chill® technology aligned fundamentally with the Australian red meat industry’s target to be carbon neutral by 2030 (CN30). This led to interest from a private firm that had developed a state-of-the-art ERP system for the beef industry and its possible use in measuring the impact of Rinse and Chill®. The realization of this vision is currently being executed in several establishments.
MPSC believes that they have a very positive story to tell regarding sustainability, and that GRSB is a logical group to help tell that story. “With Rinse & Chill®, MPSC is offering a climate-smart, market-ready scalable solution that the global meat industry can easily adopt to meet emissions reductions and sustainability goals. Rinse & Chill® helps our partner plants deliver a higher quality, more sustainable end product that improves efficiency, water use, shelf life, waste reduction, and refrigeration,” says Warner Ide, MPSC CEO.
